New York

When Dorothy embarked on creating her New York City collection, it was especially emotional for her because this is where she spent her formative years. Growing up in Brooklyn, Dorothy was fascinated by the people she met from all walks of life and began sketching at a young age. At fourteen, she was invited to study at the prestigious Art Students League where she learned fundamental skills and techniques. She spent the next few decades honing her craft.

In 1990, Dorothy returned with a new appreciation of the city. She was eager to capture the iconic landmarks and the spirit of the people. Upon completing her collection, Dorothy had a solo exhibition at the National Arts Club. Broadcast journalist and television personality Barbara Walters called the paintings “enormously original.”
